SCARY!

This is scary I have heard of this happening before in an alcohol-free perfume...... To be on the safe side I think I will just stay away from ALL alcohol-free products!

Voluntary Recall of Mouthwash Distributed Nationwide by Cardinal Health

May 6, 2008

Hydrox Labs has issued a voluntary recall of Cardinal Health labeled alcohol-free mouthwash. The mouthwash has been tested and been found positive for Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia). The Centers for Disease Control has confirmed hospital illnesses in one state associated with the use of the affected mouthwash.

B. cepacia is a bacteria that can be found in soil and water and poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems like weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF), may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia.

Yikes! Stay away from that. And probably don't eat dirt either. Who would have thought that nasty bugs grow in the dirt!!!

The "Agent Cool Blue" mouth rinse aid (shows kids where to brush) was recalled sometime last year. This is quite common in products that don't contain alcohol.

A good rule of thumb for CFers is to only buy small quantities of mouthwash at a time; that way you can throw the whole thing out and start over if you get sick. It's also a good idea to buy a new toothbrush after every infection too.
